Most modern modems contain a CPU that does the I/O stuff. It's connected
to (usually) a TI chip that does the modulator/demodulator stuff. The
fast modems even have a DSP to handle the compression.

A WinModem uses your CPU and has no DSP. Good Luck! This is a LoseModem.
