Same here (more or less. 2.1.119, ppp 2.3.5, UP on 486).
/dev/ttyS2 is the modem, /dev/ttyS1 is an unconnected internal serial:
[root@sirio archivio]# setserial /dev/ttyS1
/dev/ttyS1, UART: 16450, Port: 0x02f8, IRQ: 3
[root@sirio archivio]# setserial /dev/ttyS2
/dev/ttyS2, UART: 16450, Port: 0x03e8, IRQ: 5
[root@sirio archivio]# stty sane < /dev/ttyS1
This is ok. Moreover:
[root@sirio archivio]# stty sane < /dev/cua1
gives the warning (using obsolete etc)
But:
[root@sirio archivio]# stty sane < /dev/ttyS2
hangs forever (well, >= 60 sec). And
[root@sirio archivio]# stty sane < /dev/cua2
works with _no_ warnings. (???)
If I can help debugging, please tell me how.
Bye,
Romano
