It works for me regardless of ordering, and I *do* have a changer to test
with:-)

Mine is 7 discs and on a bus with other devices....

Any device ordering works for me, I'm doing this on a Sparc 4 running 2.0.35,
using the onboard esp (NCR53c90 or somesuch) scsi controller.
I have no trouble believing something still isn't entirely right, but please,
don't break it for those of us for whom it works:-)
