If ppa is linked into the kernel you have to connect a powered on ZIP
drive from boot to right detect it. A bit of kernel messages to know at
least in wich mode your parallel port was, could be helpful ;-). Also the
ZIP drive should be a bit verbose.

port between pardevices (such ppa and lp). You can run ppa and lp at the
