I've had a similar problem except that mine would work correctly at
times.
The first time I mounted the CDROM it would mount OK, the second time
it would not and I tried to kill it, I switched to a different shell
and tried again with no luck. I rebooted and tried again with similar
results. A few days later I mounted without a problem. I removed the
disk and then put it back realizing that I should unmount it before I
would attempt to mount another disk. The same shit came back. Every time
I would reboot in such a situation I would get a deadly crash with the
following disk check on both my ext2 partitions.
This was with 2.1.120 kernel as well.
