The problem:
------------
I'm having problems when I access the CDROM while I'm using internet with
ppp over my 28.8 modem. The kernel seems to lose packages when I transfer
data from the CDROM (DMA).
The Atapi CDROM and the Quantum harddive are on the same IDE controller
(primary master and primary slave). I actually think this worked in 2.0.x
as far as I remember, but I normally don't use the CDROM drive (until
now). I can do some backward testing to see when the problem appeared.
Internal networking over ethernet works just fine even when I access the
cdrom.
This is very annoying when I play mp3s on CD:s, I experience no problems
when I have the mp3s on the harddrive though.
I mailed Erik Andersen, and he told me to speak to Andre Hedrick. Alan Cox
said something about shitty cdrom drivers - but Erik Andersen refused that
earlier :)
