(And maybe you just want that. There are a lot of people enthusiastic about
kernel development and sending a lot of patches. Maybe you don't want to
discrourage them but of course you can't let everything. So they got a vger
kernel to play with ... ? )
No, we don't want that.
What we want is finally a 2.1.x which compiles on all platforms.
A prerequisite for that are the video driver subsystem patches Martin
has been trying to feed Linus.
If people think a 2.2.x with a "special tree" for sparc, ppc, m68k,
etc. is cool, think again. I still have maintainence nightmares for
2.0.x 32-bit sparc strictly because of what happened there, I don't
want it to happen again.
