I just had an "interesting" crash:

On my HP Vectra XM (pentium 133) I use APM's power off feature to
switch off the computer after halting it (halt). Usually it works.

This time I pressed the spacebar (usually used to turn it on again)
shortly after "System halted" appeared on the screen. I got a
"general protection f000".

I have not written down all the registers, but a few of them. Maybe
it can help to track down the problem:

general protection f000

EIP 2048:[<0000008d>]
eax: 00000013 ebx: 00000001 ecx: bfff0003 edx: 00000000

affected process was "halt"

code: 9a 4a 8e 00 f0 80 cc 08 9a 4e 8e 00 f0 80 e4 f7 9a 4e 8e 00
