Probably because those are the technical names for the protocols in
question. To fix that, just add the relevant entries to your copy of
/etc/conf.modules as follows, then reboot:
Q> alias net-pf-1 unix
Q> alias net-pf-2 ipv4
Q> alias net-pf-3 ax25
Q> alias net-pf-4 ipx
Q> alias net-pf-5 appletalk
Q> alias net-pf-6 netrom
Q> alias net-pf-11 rose
Those are the onbly values I've come across so far, so I can't offer
advice on any other values...
