CD-RW as a normal hard disk?

Can I use a CD-RW drive as a normal removable hard disk drive? I would
like to create a filesystem on it and copy my files on it.

Is this possible in linux 2.1? For IDE, SCSI?

Since linux does not supoort neither udf nor read/write isofs, what
filesystem should bw used?
