2.1.130 booting ?

I have just tried to boot up in 2.1.130, after using 2.0.3x for a long
time. I needed one of the new features.

I upgraded all the necessary packages that were documented in
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes.

My installation is actually Redhat 5.1.

But my problem is that at boot time it simply says :
Uncompressing kernel.... OK booting kernel.

and nothing appears on the screen anymore, but my machine seems to be
booting up. After a while it seems to hang.

After rebooting back into 2.0.36 I see some error messages in the log
files :
Nov 28 00:48:30 tt2 /sbin/mingetty[xxx]: /dev/tty1: cannot open tty:
Operation not supported by device

I'm wandering what I have missed, whether it be a miss configuration, or a
step I missed while going from 2.0.3x -> 2.1.130.

Cheers Mof.
