PAS16 module problem

I've had a problem with 2.1.x for some time now; I thought it was just my setup,
but I've recently seen it reported by others on Usenet. I have a PAS16 card and
all the proper configuration options are in my conf.modules file -- but loading
sb.o fails with a 'dsp reset failed' message. I can properly load the sound
driver if I compile it straight into the kernel, though. My setup looks like

options pas2 io=0x338 irq=5 dma=5 dma16=5
options sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=5

I think it broke around the time we went from one huge sound.o file to the
collection of little drivers. The OSS/Linux modules load just fine, so I think
my setup is OK. Any ideas?
