2.1.131 and midi (sb16)

I am not sure it happened in 2.1.131, though I seem to remember using
midi output in either 2.1.130 or 2.1.129. Now playmidi exists
immediately, not a peep from the speaker. Cat somemidi.mid >
/dev/sequencer doesn't really work either. IT hangs, but is killable
without a -9.

Anyone else with sound blaster (specifically the sb16) have this problem
at the moment as well?
