I believe that WordPerfect actually started out in life as a Data General RDOS
program before moving on to CP/M (the fondness for {shift,control}-function
keys, etc. mapped on to the DG character terminals). After all, there were
computers before trash-80's. I don't recall when RDOS was born, but it was
already old hat (and dying) when I joined Data General in 1979.
