What about /proc/sys/fs directory ?
[root@lin225box /root]# ls -l /proc/sys/fs/
total 0
dr-xr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 binfmt_misc
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 dentry-state
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 dquot-max
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 dquot-nr
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 file-max
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 file-nr
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 inode-max
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 inode-nr
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 inode-state
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 super-max
-r--r--r-- 1 root root 0 Apr 23 13:57 super-nr
Look at /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sysctl/fs.txt
and /usr/src/linux/Documentation/proc.txt files
for some documentation.
