[1.] One line summary of the problem:

Linux 2.2.10 SMP+2940UW - Kernel panic: VFS: Free block list corrupted

[2.] Full description of the problem/report:

At ramdom intervals the system hangs with kernel panic.

This system was installed on Monday, first hang Friday at 7:00, second
one Friday at 17:00.

The system hosts a proxy server that is filling up a partition, perhaps
this explains why at first we had no crash (empty disk).

[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):

kernel, filesystem, SMP, scsi

[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):

Linux version 2.2.10 (root@new) (gcc version 2.7.2.3) #8 SMP Mon Jun 28
21:43:53 MEST 1999

[5.] Output of Oops.. message with symbolic information resolved
(see Kernel Mailing List FAQ, Section 1.5):

[6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the
problem (if possible)

not possible! :-)

[7.] Environment

SMP machine with 2 PII 350, 256Mb RAM, adaptec 2940UW, good motherboard
(supermicro).
