Maybe. But the very same machine on which WinXX crashes doesn't with
Linux... or it "works fine" with WinXX, but Linux won't even boot. Seen
both.
AFAIKS, the quality of the average hardware has gone way up from a few
years ago. Maybe that explanation was valid then, I'd bet against it now.
