Yes, the current 2.3 development kernels have USB and USB Floppy
support. I'm unsure as to if the code has been tested with Vaio's
Floppy.

Check out www.linux-usb.org (a little out of date) and follow the links
to the list of hardware supported/tested for more info. There is also a
FAQ.
