And even more surprisingly, the required bare packages have been bundled
somewhere else too. And you certainly can get one of a number of rpm2cpio
scripts and unpack the whole RPMS/SRPMS wherever you want. SRPMs contain the
original sources plus patches and a SPEC file with configuration/compilation
instructions.
