[2.] Full description of the problem/report:
We are running a freemail-server on a Linux-box. Everything worked fine
until there were less than 38999 user registrated on that system.
Since the 39000th user where added, he isn't recogniced by the system. He
was added with useradd, is included in /etc/passwd:
layla:x:39198:100:Mailbenutzer:/home/layla:/bin/bash
and /etc/shadow:
layla:fmgr0xGXTE5ns:10864:0:99999:7:0::
but, if we want to change his password with passwd there is the message:
mail:/etc # passwd layla
passwd: Unknown user layla
