PPA broken in 2.3.33 and 2.3.34 ?

When I do modprobe ppa I get:

parport0: PC-style at 0x3bc [PCSPP]
parport0: cpp_daisy: aa5500ff(98)
parport0: assign_addrs: aa5500ff(98)
ppa: Version 2.03 (for Linux 2.2.x)
ppa: Found device at ID 6, Attempting to use SPP
ppa: Communication established with ID 6 using SPP
scsi0 : Iomega VPI0 (ppa) interface
scsi : 1 host

Then the terminal freezes and thats all. An lsmod shows:

ppa 10024 1 (uninitialized)
parport_pc 13368 1 (autoclean)
parport 26464 1 [ppa parport_pc]
sd_mod 10216 0 (autoclean) (unused)
scsi_mod 71752 1 [ppa sd_mod]
