I have seen it repeatedly
One process is doing heavy i/o
Other processes can no longer access the network.
i.e. finger @ftp.kernel.org keeps stalling, ssh connections not
established etc. Irc is getting extremely bursty.
If I get 2.2.14 up all will be fine.
