I had this happen yesterday on my dual-proc (Intel Reference Platform) at
work. I had hit init 6 before I realized that I didn't have a boot floppy
(doesn't boot from SCSI) and thus ended up with a strange kernel and
module set. I still have the kernel and modules and could try to
reproduce this if needed.

The machine has been working fine otherwise. No problems at all.
