lp problems

I have problems with the lp drivers in 2.1.51
I'm using modprobe and the driver doesn't find any lp devices. 2.1.35
works fine. I'm also not sure how all the different parport modules are
supposed to work. We have parport.o, parport_pc.o and parport_probe.o and
lp.o depends on parport.o only.

How are you supposed to use devices these days?
