As part of my work, I have to create a character driver for
a card that does analogue-digital conversion and which
works from address 0390.

I'd like to have an example of programming a chacater driver under C in
linux, with the design steps too.

I've written a program in C for linux containing functions inw() and
outw() as defined in the header file asm/io.h, allowing acces to the
input/output ports. On compiling the program, an object file is created
but I have not been able to get an executable from it, the problem:
from reading the link data, I'm missing a library, please point me at
it.

PS. I presume this person forgot to compile with -O.
