First here is the single line out of the boot log, Do you need more? This
is with the boot append ramdisk_size=13288.

These are the error messages I get. the first three lines are repeated
about 40 times with different sector numbers, this is just the last three
plus the rest of the error messages.

i boot the kernel. mke2fs with 13288 blocks on say /dev/ram1, mount the
ram drive, and try to copy the database files. Should I use some other
approach?

I appreciate this suggestion, but this is a production machine and I would
prefer not to use a development kernel.
