[2.1 SOUND] GUS DMA timeout

I can't get sound working properly with 2.1.113:

I have a GUS PnP set up with isapnp (IRQ 11, DMA0 5, DMA1 7, IO 220)

Using programs like mpg123, it looks like every 64K sound block is
played 3 times.

I used to get "Sound: DMA (output) timed out - IRQ/DRQ config error?"
while the sound was playing, but as I'm doing some tests while writing
this, it doesn't seem to happen anymore, weird :/

The problem doesn't seem to appear when cat'ing something to /dev/dsp

/dev/sndstat says:

Installed drivers:

Card config:

Audio devices:

2: Ultrasound

Synth devices:

Midi devices:
0: Gravis UltraSound Midi

Timers:

Mixers:

1: Gravis Ultrasound

my kernel config:

CONFIG_SOUND=m
CONFIG_SOUND_OSS=m
CONFIG_SOUND_GUS=m
CONFIG_GUSMAX=y
CONFIG_SOUND_VMIDI=m

and /etc/conf.modules:

alias char-major-14 gus
options gus io=0x220 irq=0xB dma=5 dma16=7

This problem has been here ever since I started to use the 2.1 series
(around 2.1.99), and everything works fine with 2.0.35.

I'd be very happy to give any further information that could help solve
it.

Thanks for your help.
