SMP Problem with 2.3.99-pre3

The machine is a compaq 1850. 2xPIII (550MHz), 1 GB RAM.
Kernel boots fine when configured Uni-Proc. Won't boot with SMP option
selected.

Fails at the following:

I noticed the following, I'm not sure if it's related.

hm, page 000f4000 reserved twice
hm, page 000f5000 reserved twice
hm, page 000fc000 reserved twice
hm, page 000fd000 reserved twice
