The recent changes to file mapping (at least private, that's what I
tested) seemed to change the behaviour of file-mapping beyond EOF. All
other Unix-like OS I know (including, but not limited to earlier Linuxes)
fill pages beyond the file end with zeroes, Linux 2.4.0-test1 and the last
few prepatches before report an "Address alignment exception" when one is
accessing pages beyond file end. I tried to find a way to patch this
misbehavoir away, but didn't succeed.
This happens both on Reiserfs partitions as on ext2 partitions, so it
doesn't seem to be a bug in Reiserfs.
