Hi,
It looks like my problem with my Adaptec 1480 is an unresolved symbol
relating to the aic7xxx driver. I get a message about this during boot.
I'm not sure if the driver itself is not linking or if it's trying to
load something else that's not linking. I've got lots of crud from old
tests lying around.
I'll boot off an earlier kernel and remove all my modules and do a clean
build and stuff.
It may be that I have kernel configuration that is wrong and builds a
driver that doesn't work, but then to allow your mom and mine to build
their kernel for their spiffy new adaptec cardbus cards, they shouldn't
have linking problems no matter how they config, should they :-)
In other notes, I built the latest card services against my kernel
2.2.13 and while it gets further along in talking to the card, there is
stuff that is out of sync and now the system I _had_ considered my
stable Linux version won't complete booting. I think it hangs during
the card services initialization.
It really should work to use the same card services programs against any
version of the kernel; things like the modules might reasonably need to
be built against the kernel tree, but I don't think it's cool at all
that having different versions of things like this hangs your system.
