Yes, but the real reason is not that we use it on a lot of places, but
that it is standardized in  6.3.1.2:
When any scalar value is converted to _Bool, the result is 0 if the
value compares equal to 0; otherwise, the result is 1.
Along with the definition of scalar types:
Arithmetic types and pointer types are collectively called scalar types.
