I've just also done a forced 64-bit build with "CC="gcc -m64
./configure --build=sparc64-unknown-linux-gnu ..."  and it built just
fine and the testsuite ran without incident.

I cannot reporduce your crashes at all.

Please provide me with the binaries you have which trigger the OOPS
and tell me exactly how to run them.
