I found out that bypassing or hacking probe_qp doesn't work in 1.3.31,
so it probably has to do with underlying problems like a change in
some port address or the method that the C&T chip was being manipulated.

Maybe looking at older source and comparing it to the current and
tracking down the changes that led to this "non-functionality" could
help.
