You are using Drew's NCR53c810 driver which doesn't support
proc-fs. The other NCR538XX driver, ported and improved by G.
Roudier from the FreeBSD code, does support proc-fs

Solution:
Say YES to NCR53C8XX option when doing make config. It's just after
the NCR53C7,8XX option. I think it's the only device with two
different drivers (that's why I love Linux :-)
