little rpm problem

Hi there. It might sound stupid, but I have a little rpm problem.
I have an linux 3.0.3 (picasso) and I cannot upgrade my rpm to the newer
versions. It dumps the core and does not install the rpm -2 packets. I
tryed with an rpm from another linux 4.1 and it doesen't work either.
