Actually, it's not a prank. :). It's an actual serious effort by a
lot of people to get notice of Linux in the main stream press.

I don't believe anyone thinks that Linus will actually get voted in
as one of the Men of the Century (although some think he should).

The goal is to just to have such a strong showing, that Time magazine
decides that it's time to find out who this unknown(to mainstream
press) "Linus" guy is, and then run a piece on the largest
non-commercial group in the world. It's a show of strength, really,
and it has a good enough chance of suceeding that it's certainly
worth the effort.

However, I understand your wish to not participate. While I am a
touch saddened by this, it's lifted by the fact that you're almost
certainly participating in the Linux effort in some other manner,
increasing the viability of such an attempt! So if no one ever
thanked you for your effort, there's at least me out there, thanking
your for helping the Linux effort.

I'll take that as a compliment, even though it's incorrect. In all
seriousness, we do have a wide spread in age group here. However, I
will assure you that the this movement isn't just taken up by
"kiddies". Most of the emails I'm recieving are from people that are
working at "cisco", "mozilla". Of course, these aren't the official
positions of the companies they are coming from, just from
individuals. The point is that these are primarily American
companies, which has laws against child labor, I'm reasonably certain
that they aren't children. I myself am 25 years old.

Even if such were true, that would not limit the effort in the least.
While I am too young to personally remember the 60's, many of the
efforts were done by high school and college students.... otherwise
known as "kiddies" to thier elders. :)

Vote Linus Torvalds, father of Linux man of the century!
This is how to get world notice of Linux. Spread the word, spread it far.
Long live the grass roots movement!
