for my GUS (classic) soundcard, sound quit working altogether
with kernel 2.1.105. I can't discover anything unusual - the
modules get loaded without any problem, output from /dev/sndstat
looks as with other versions (see below). Whenever I try to
access any of the sound devices, I only get an error message:
'can't open /dev/xxx: no such device or address'.
(Btw.: It seems like the patch for dmabuf.c to fix the hangup on
closing the GUS still didn't make it into the distributed driver)
