OK, that makes it clear.

Must be the high information content of my voice ;-)
Anyway, like I said, I didn't have time to play further. Fiddling the
recording level may yield results. The distortion wasn't awful or
anything, but I could still hear it without much effort.
As someone else said, having the DMA stream pre-encoded to 8bit ulaw
would be great.
