Using Monochrome and VGA monitors simultaneously.

Aroundabout 2.1.110 or so I asked about dual monitors with one
VGA and one mono card. The kernel menuconfig suggests it's
possible, but someone warned me to wait for mdacon or something
like that. I've waited, and not spotted that particular name
popping up anywhere, and haven't seen it in any menuconfig
screens at all.

So my question is:

Is the dual monitor with mono and vga a working thing yet?

If so, what are the possibilities with it, how does one configure
it, how is it used, etc...

I can think of about 50 different ways that I could use it, so an
FAQ would be nice. Feel free to either describe it to me, or to
point me to such an FAQ or URL or whatever.
