I personally do not mind the copyright messages. The normal 'scary'
messages that can be interpreted as abnormal by a inexperienced (new)
user, on the other hand, I do wish to be able to eliminate.

I believe it depends upon licensing, although I'm not totally clear on it
and definately do not want to step on anyone's toes. Strangely enough,
as a side-effect of using printk() for all output, we log the copyright
messages unless your syslogd is setup to do otherwise. See my previous
message "Kernel messages..." for ideas I had regarding this and other
output presentation issues.
