how about a list with PCI Vendor/Device ID's and the corresponding module,
CONFIG_OPTION? Same could be done for ISA PnP. That means as soon as someone
writes a device driver for a PCI/ISA card he/she adds the device/vendor numbers
in pci-device.txt file. He/she has to know it anyway for the pci_ routines.
pci-device.txt could look like this:
Vendor:Device:Type:Module:Config-Param
10ec:8029:NET:ne2k:CONFIG_NE2K_PCI
isa-device.txt like this:
WSC9008:NET:ne:CONFIG_NE2000
I think that belongs to the kernel source and gives a useful hint, if the Kernel
supports the installed PCI/ISA cards.
No more searching in outdated compatibility lists....
